Itinerary overview :
DAY 0: Kigali-Rwanda.
Activity: Arrival at Kigali international airport, meet the guide, transfer to hotel.
Accommodation: Scott and brothers apartment OR Phoenix hotel.
Kigali is the capital city of Rwanda, roughly in the Centre of the country. It sprawls across numerous hills, ridges and valleys. It’s considered to be one of the cleanest cities in Africa as the government implemented a ban on the use of plastic bags/sachets.
DAY 1-2: Kigali genocide memorial Centre and Kings Palace museum.
Activity: Cultural and historical sites visit.
Accommodation: Heaven restaurant and Boutique hotel OR 2000 hotel.
In April 2004, the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre was dedicated to commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Rwanda genocide. Perched on a hill overlooking the city of Kigali, the Centre houses a museum with three permanent exhibitions, memorial gardens, the Genocide Archive of Rwanda and the Mass graves holding the remains of more than 250,000 genocide victims who were killed in and around the city of Kigali.
While the museum is built on a neutral site, chosen for its striking location and its convenience to the capital city rather than its meaning to genocide memory, the Kigali Centre strives to be the Rwandan national genocide remembrance.
DAY 3-5: Gorilla trekking (Parc National Des Volcanoes). Rwanda.
Activity: Gorilla trekking
Accommodation: Volcano view Virunga hotel OR Amahoro guest house.
Parc National Des Volcanoes is a national park in northwestern Rwanda. It covers 62 sq. mi of rainforest and encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains, namely Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sibyinyo.
It borders Virunga National park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga gorilla national park in Uganda. It is home to the mountain gorillas and golden monkey and was the base for the primatologist Dian Fossey.
Mountain gorillas can only survive in the wild, so trekking into their native forests is your only chance to catch a peek. Walking and Sitting in silence on the cold grounds of this forest for about 5-6 hours might be one of life's greatest privileges. There are fewer than 900 mountain gorillas in existence, and gorilla trekking in this park provides you with a rare opportunity to observe the everyday interactions of these gentle mysterious primates.
Then drive to Kigali.
End of the trip.
